Woody Guthrie - The thing I did the
most when first trying out this style was simple portraiture--capturing
a famous person's look and feel without any extraneous
elements.
Over
time, as I expanded what I could do with my style, I
of course got into all kinds of other things, and sort
of left the simple portrait thing behind.
I
don't remember what inspired me to illustrate Woody
Guthrie, maybe it was the idea of trying to make it
look like a sepia-tone photograph. But looking at this
piece again reminds me that I really don't do those
simple portraits any more--like I said above, maybe
I need to try those again some time.
